Very simple. Ipv4 AND ipv6 records with floating ip's
Any updates on this? An App Store rejection message from Apple says,
"We found that your in-app purchase products exhibited one or more bugs when reviewed on iPad running iOS 11.4.1 on Wi-Fi connected to an IPv6 network. Specifically, we are still unable to purchase IAP in your app. Error dialog appears."
So it looks like having a floating IPv6 address is necessary for hosting an IAP server on Digital Ocean.
Please provide an update!
31 months and no progress on this obvious, expected feature? Is there any reason this would be difficult to implement? Why wasn't it a feature when IPv4 floating IPs were introduced?
I just want to add why it would have been helpful for this to have been implemented.
I have a server on the floating IP for transitional reasons, but now I realize that it could be good to have in case there is any problem with the server, I can simply spin up another one. However, since the domain name in question has both ipv4 and ipv6 dns entries, when I move it to another droplet only people looking for the ipv4 will find the site. I assume most devices that can attempt to access the ipv6 address first.
If the site were down on the ipv6 address, I don't know if it would automatically try the ipv4 address or not. Having an ipv4 and ipv6 pair as a floating IP would solve this problem.
Why would this take so long to implement? What piece is missing that would allow for this?
This will be implement in 2020.
Useless without ipv6 support.
ipv4 only floating ip is like not having floating ip at all.
hetzner cloud (which just launched) already have that.
They are even chepter with more RAM.
it used to be that DO have more features but it's look like it stop being like that, unfortunately.
ipv6 support for floating IP's would be appriciated
I need ipv6 too!
We really need it for App store, because part of Apple's test run app on IPv6 only enabled network.
This is really important for us! The floating IP could always be a ipv4/ipv6 pair.
Any idea if and when this will be implemented?
Please add ipv6 support
Is there a roadmap somewhere to see how close DO is to implementing IPv6 floating IPs?
Very critical for us to have IPv6 support, please add soon!
Would love this feature
definitely something I am missing.. I've switched to IPv6 long time ago and would like to use the floating IP solution on IPv6 too!
We need this for our applications as well
Needed for public APIs in iOS apps!
voting too for floating IPv6 address
We are going to have to move to AWS if this isn't added...
We need to be reachable via v4 and v6. A floating IPv4 address only is not an option for us. We hope DigitalOcean soon offers floating IPv6 addresses, too. It really is a nice feature!!!
An account+region specific IPv6 /64 that would be shared across all the droplets in one region/zone would be even more interesting.
Give me that and the ability to give more than one floating IP address to a machine, and i'll use the IPv6 network for a management network between machines and be able to return the non-floating IPv4s.
This turned out to be a very useful configuration in our current physical setup (only a few nginx loadbalancers exposed) but I can see why it would be much more difficult to replicate that on scale - other cloud platforms aren't much more flexible than DO in this regard, if they provide IPv6 to compute nodes at all...
We can only hope for this to be on the road map.
I was surprised this wasn't an option already...
Was looking forward to setting up a floating ipv6.
Floating IPv6, as requested by the community now for seven months, is a baseline requirement to even begin considering Digital Ocean seriously :(
I would hope that the price for a floating ipv6 adress would be 0 or half of the price of a ipv4 adress
(I'm talking about an ip adress that's not linked to a droplet)
This would be incredibly handy and make things much easier for me. Would love to see this!
This idea is even duplicated at https://ideas.digitalocean.com/ideas/DO-I-2954 . It is something we really need, a floating ipv6. Networks that do support ipv6 will use the ipv6 ip address and then we want that to be a floating one we can attach to multiple Droplets. Now it seems you need to work with a load balancer if you want to change Droplets around. Why not a floating ipv6?
Second this. The floating IPs feature is super useful.Remember: IPv6 support is not longer optional. Not providing IPv6 support can be seen as a direct violation of RFC 6540.
