Singapore location is great and works well. But for HA applications it would be nice to have another Asia datacenter...
HongKong or Japan DC would be great!
After 2 years it would be really, really nice to have at least a hint of what DO is thinking about this idea. I really love their services (like the new App service!!), but I'm planning a new app that needs really low latency and without a Tokyo or Osaka datacenter I will have to go to GCP or AWS... :(
+ Pretty please?
I agree, we need data center in Japan to convince our customers.
Agreed. Many Japanese users need this. However we need an extra step to filter spammers and actions against TOS users, much cares China.
Japan Data Center Please
I came across the question of where to place the site better. Japanese and South African? Now JP posted in Singapore. Where to place ZA?Thanks for the help.
Still waiting for this
I'm trying to build an app in Japan and I have to say, the lack of a Japan datacenter of any kind is the only thing really stopping me from using Digital Ocean. As long as there's a low (<30ms) latency to Tokyo I think most people would be fine with wherever you plop down a datacenter.
All the other big players have their Tokyo data center, some have more than one. So why not DO?
Setting up a data center is not like going to a store and buying a drink, there must be reliable data center providers, tier-1 bandwidth providers, etc.
Moreover, Digital Ocean will also have to have some staff over there to manage the hyper-visors and ensure security.
