Development and systems Q&A

Right now the droplet list is sorted by droplet ID instead of name. It would be easier to read when it's sorted in a way the user prefers and is saved with the account.
Paging would be nice too :)
Great suggestion we'll get it implemented.
+1. Default should be order by hostname I think too.
Easier to group/understand the list.
Please this is huge. I have 15-40 droplets in and out at one time and I cant tell whats going on.
we currently have 100+ Virtuals on another provider, its nice not to have to "find" a server.
someone should combine these (2) topics and its splitting the voites:
Total would be 19 votes
On my fairly limited account, it seems to me that they are listed by order of creation, with oldest on top. If you're using the API to create/destroy then the calls may not arrive in the order sent, which could lead to an apparently random order.
That said, I agree that being able to sort by name, size, location, etc. would be rather nice. DataTables may be overkill for the purpose in the given presentation, but combined with some of the other requests, could provide a better, more flexible, overview of droplets.
I belive its a simple and easy developing feature. But it was very very helpfull to us costumers.
Please digitalocean take this idea!
Upvoting as well!
The current ordering is quite weird and not user-friendly, ordering on name should be much better and easy to do.
Or, if possible, allow us to do a custom ordering on the table-header, eg name, creation date, ..
Any update on this? This is a great idea and seems like it should be a simple implementation, even if it's just changing the default sort order to name.
Yes. If you guys want us to use Digital Ocean in a large quantity then this lack of sorting is discouraging.
Also, we need sorting in the DNS entries too.
I develop software for a living and know sorting is rather simple to implement. Why hasn't this been done already?
Agreed on this. As I move more of my sites to DigitalOcean, an easier-to-navigate and manage Droplet list is essential. Right now, it seems to be in the order that the Droplets were created.
I appreciate the clean, simple user interface. Sometimes it can be too simple. :)
It would be nice to be able to order created droplets by name/size, and maybe filter by size/location. Sorting at least should be persistent i.e. it remembers the order permanently. I'd like this as I'd like the droplet listing to be in alphabetical order.
Two problems with the implementation...
1) The Sort Triangle appears at the top of the Name column when first logging in, but the list is not yet sorted on that column.
2) The Sort Triangle is backwards from the actual order. A-Z should be "less to more". It displays opposite this.
Disregard the (1) in the previous comment. That seems to have been a temporary issue that resolved itself.
As for (2)... the Created column does display properly, but the Name and IP address columns are backwards.
Furthermore, the Img column is sortable, but the results are not actually sorted. I have 1 CentOS server, and the rest are all Ubuntu. The CentOS server appears in the middle of the list no matter which order I sort on for this column. What is it using as the sortable value? OS version number?
Sorting is also too slow. I know this is a weak complaint, but is this an architectural flaw? One cloud system serving tens of thousands of users? Too much load on the system?
