Have one solution for everything.. Selling domain's which automatically point to NS1.DIGITALOCEAN.COM, NS2.DIGITALOCEAN.COM, NS3.DIGITALOCEAN.COM. I would love to just have one service for everything web.
I would prefer to keep my domain names separate from DO. I trust DO to do an excellent job; however, that means there is a single point of failure.
It is better to spread your services to protect from the hackers.
It also means you can get exactly what you want from different providers.
Oh yes please, and please include a lot of domains including .fr! ^^
Would like to be able to purchase and renew domains through Digital Ocean for simplicities sake. But please keep any markup reasonable, most digital ocean customers are aware of the going rates and will go elsewere if there is any significant markup on domains.
I'd like to advice this (https://hereisdomain.com) service to find a good registrar of your domain. There you can find cheap registrars
Yeah I would also love this service. :D
Would move all my 200+ domains to DigitalOcean. Do you have any plans of doing this?
I'd love to move all my domains out of (current domain registrar). Got my vote.
I'd prob. be difficult for DigitalOcean to match some of the bargain-basement domain name registration pricing that established registrars, such as GoDaddy & NameCheap (both of whom make it easy to use D.O.'s nameservers or your own, branded nameservers), have established.
If it beats the prices of other top domain companies, I'd transfer my domains. I am certainly capable of configuring my nameservers, so price is the motivating factor for me.
Would be great to offer this. Maybe you could resell http://www.resellerclub.com/? They seem to be the most inexpensive if you don't want to establish your own registrar, but I have no idea what the quality of service is like.
That's my first thought when I first started my first droplet here.
I'm in a registrar company and the resources (not technological) for domain registration are quite a lot of stuff when domains aren't generic (such as .com or .org).
I will be glad to help you in this project if you want to.
This is good idea, you can add SSL certs to that list and maybe have some action like namecheap.com has, for every transfered domain they are giving cert for 1.9 $ (only first year).
I wouldn't mind moving over all my domains (30+) over to DO if you establish a service which is reasonable priced.
You have tough competition. I'd love to simplify billing and administration, but http://www.dnsimple.com is the service to beat. I think he resells enom, but am unsure.
I'm very cheap but have no problem spending $15/year on a domain name with powerful DNS administration, infrastructure and most of all, no crap cluttering the app.
We are definitely interested in providing this service in the future and would love to see more up votes for it from more customers.
Making DigitalOcean a domain name registrar would be great but should come with an API and a lot of TLDs. As of right now, I have to use Namecheap API along with DigitalOcean API to manage my customers.
that's greate idea to buy domain from digital ocean with a competitor prices, email service maybe too.
thanks for idea. up voted.
