I want to have my website hosted with DigitalOcean, but all of the plans available now is suitable for developer, not webmaster or to host a website. I'm looking forward to see the lower price plans and suitable for website hosting :)
You can host websites on all of the plans, DigitalOcean has a nice Articles & Tutorials section that should help you host websites on a DigitalOcean server.
The LAMP/LNMP stacks are what you need.
We do not have any plans to offer website hosting as we are a linux virtual server provider.
However we do provide full root access to servers so you can install any control panel you like such as Cpanel or Zpanel.
We will also be issuing application images in the future which will have pre-installed stacks such as Rails, Wordpress, etc. which may accomplish what you are looking for.
I have 4 Website hosted here at Digital Ocean
Unfortunately hosting websites vs linux servers are fundamentally different and isn't part of our business model.
There are a lot of great hosts that provide a full control panel where you can add domains, have FTP auto-configured, email setup, etc, and if you aren't yet ready to try out a linux server which requires you to administer it you should choose one of those.
honestly, unless you're getting a wicked amount of hits - this is good enough for public usage.
Just curious if there any plans to change pricing? planning budgets for experiments against current prices. Thanks!
