All,
We're pleased to announce the release of FreeBSD on DigitalOcean today. You can create droplets using the FreeBSD image via the Create page or the API. Please note that FreeBSD creates require an SSH key and root passwords are not supported.
Our community team has compiled tons of useful information and tutorials which can be found on our community site here:
https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tags/freebsd
For those of you looking for us to add similar but distinct distros, please submit a new Uservoice request so we can gauge the level of interest.
Thank you everyone for your continued involvement. Enjoy FreeBSD on DO!
Thanks,
Sam Gimbel
Product Manager
Unfortunately we do not yet currently support FreeBSD but we may be adding it in the future.
If it gets up voted more we'll push it to a higher priority on our roadmap.
Thanks

Sorry no update on this yet as we are still primarily focusing on various Linux distros and improving the overall quality of service.

would love to see FreeBSD, kind of a deal breaker without it (was expecting that we could upload an ISO and install it manually since you guys use KVM? but I guess not)

We've made a really rough alpha version of an ISO import that we use internally to import all of the new Linux distros when they are released.
But there are still too many bugs that we need to work out before we can start beta testing it publicly in the Labs section.
It is on the roadmap however.

Perhaps as a beta test we could boot a generic ipxe image and load our own kernel over the network? That way you won't have to worry about those other bugs until you roll out the feature.

That's another item we are working on which is to create a bootable rescue ISO so that you can mount your image and work on it there.
The issue with kernels is related to grub as a bootloader which has a few quirks that need to be worked out so that we can give full access to customers back to the kernel.
The other option is just to provide a kernel selection preference when booting the virtual server.

Is there any thing I can do to convince you guys to build a FreeBSD 9.1 Image? :)

No extra convincing needed just a matter of finding the free time =]

Hi Victor,
There's really no difference between a trial server or regular server it requires the same amount of support.
I'm going to close this request so you can up-vote the other FreeBSD request that already exists and has more votes.
Thanks,
Moisey
