It would be very much appreciated if you guys could add this in the near future its a pretty big roadblock to alot of deployment stories that are not webapps.
This really needs to be supported. We are moving back to AWS until it is.
Need this for rsyslog, love DO, but will need to move to AWS. Hope they can add it soon!
This would be very useful for game server
Add wireguard to the list of containerizable applications that can't be used behind a DO LB :-(
I don't understand why this isnt a default feature. So many apps require it.
As others have said, this would be incredibly useful for kubernetes pods that require UDP ports to be exposed. I have run into the issue of no UDP support a handful of times while trying to set up pods for personal use.
I would like to add that the load balancers should support mixed TCP/UDP, for pods that require both. This will require an annotation, as upstream k8s has decided not to support it natively until cloud providers support it through annotations (???).
We need this for the following:
Err a separate LOAD BALANCER for UDP, not separate protocols. Sorry, late in the day.
I had to write my own DNS controller to be able to run a Minecraft server in my Kubernetes cluster, because external-dns puts the private IPs of the nodes in for headless services. And since I went to all that work I decided to use it to point at my ingress controller as well rather than using a LoadBalancer service, so you're losing $10/mo on me!And now I'm going to share my controller with everyone else here, which will probably cost you another $10/mo because of the one other person who decides to do the same thing!https://github.com/seanlynch/do-pod-dns-controller
Seriously, though, I spent a LOT of time trying to figure out how to get UDP into my cluster, and none of the options is particularly awesome, including my crappy controller, though it does work. One warning: because LoadBalancer services don't support mixing protocols, you'll still need separate protocols for UDP if you want to use LoadBalancer services in Kubernetes, unless that gets fixed before DO gets around to adding UDP support.
That's something critical. We cannot even setup a CoreDNS server on our K8S cluster
+1 Need it!
We need this feature for our business stream servers
I need this to run Bind in K8s.
Just landed here trying to expose Jitsi's UDP port through a Kubernetes Load Balancer. UDP support in Digital Ocean Load Balancers would be great.
Hopefully this sees daylight soon.
Pretty please *_*!
This would be a great feature! For now, I am using a reverse proxy to a NodePort service, basically building my own LB, check it out https://medium.com/asl19-developers/build-your-own-cloud-agnostic-tcp-udp-loadbalancer-for-your-kubernetes-apps-3959335f4ec3
Please, please, please with sugar on top!
This would open up load balancing things like TURN servers, which would make it so simple to scale.
