This would provide more flexibility/control of the execution environment and also help us to work around current limitations on deployment package size.

This would be a huge feature! AWS Lambda allows you to already do this.

This feature would greatly improve the flexibility of DO's cloud functions vs. other platforms, e.g. Google's Cloud Run https://cloud.google.com/run
