Allow Static Site Deployment from Other CMS

Currently static sites can only be deployed from source code stored in GitHub or GitLab. I use a Gitea and people are starting to use alternatives like sourcehut.
It would be great if static sites could be deployed from an arbitrary repository source so these alternatives would work and people self-hosting their code could publish as well.
One work around could be making it so static sites could be deployed via spaces easily.

I'm also using self-hosted Gitea.
If it's a public repo and supports git clone via HTTPS, I would imagine support would not be difficult.
My current solution is to mirror my Gitea repo to GitHub, and use that for the DigitalOcean app. I would not have GitHub if it wasn't for this purpose.
